- Argentinian brand focuses on innovation and food packaging.
In the 1990s, GESON S.A. gave a turn to gourmet food products, mainly because this was the passion of its founder, Jorge Agostinelli. Thus was born San Giorgio, an emblematic brand in Argentina that guarantees the quality of imported food. Precisely, to expand its range of products, San Giorgio will attend the Expoalimentaria fair, to be held from September 27 to 29 at the Jockey Exhibition Center.
“We look for products of excellence that are not only tasty but innovative. In our country the consumer of food associated with good eating identifies San Giorgio with the seasoning, garnish, pasta or dressing that makes the difference,” said Alejandro Agostinelli, Director of the brand.
He indicated that while looking for competitive prices, when deciding product innovation and attractive packaging are fundamental. “We have had some cases in which we stumbled upon products of excellence whose packaging is not in tune with our standards or our expectation for the type of product. In those cases we work with our suppliers to improve that aspect,” he said.
In 2016 the volume of imports of San Giorgio amounted to US $ 325 thousand, which meant 50% more than imports made in 2015. In the case of Expoalimentaria the estimation of purchases is of US$ 15 thousand.
Last year, the company imported premium food products from France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Ecuador and Brazil, and invoiced a total of US$ 3 million.
San Giorgio not only manufactures and imports, but has its own distribution centers, which cover the whole country. In addition, it sells its products to small distributors, reaching a wide variety of points of sale: hypermarkets, supermarkets, local stores, restaurants, hotels, natural stores, dieticians, wine bars, maritime suppliers, air suppliers and pharmacies.
It should be noted that Expoalimentaria is organized by the Association of Exporters (ADEX) with the valuable support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri), Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RR.EE.) and PromPerú.
